Listed Building Insurance Work
In addition to the services you will find in the menu, Olde English also takes on insurance work related to Listed Buildings and Period Properties. This specialist field is dealt with by one of the Directors.
The most common type of insurance work we have carried out is water damage repairs. One example was a shower waste leak in a badly ventilated part timber part concrete ground floor of a Grade 2 Listed Barn Conversion which led to a dry rot outbreak. This was compounded by a slow initial response by the insurance company before we were instructed, which let the dry rot work its way further across the building. Several rooms had to be gutted back to the structure, affected timbers cut out, and remaining ones treated before complete reinstatement of the related floor and wall structure and finishes including replacing the bathroom to a high standard and replacing affected bespoke cabinetry.
As well as Project Managing the stripping out and repairs from start to finish, we helped arrange professional storage of the clients antique belongings, and recommended the owners spoke to their insurance company about covering the cost of moving out for a period of time and any other related unexpected costs.
Good insurance policies should allow you to get on with your daily routine with minimal disruption, and let the professionals take the stress out of it for you. This is a journey that requires careful navigation. Think twice before you accept the cheapest insurance quote or settlement figure.
